Green buildings
Adidas claims on its website that they have strict rules in matters of energy, water and paper consumption, carbon emissions and reduction of waste on each individual site (office, distribution centre and factories).
Green staff
Every big Adidas site has a Green Team. These Green Team members are members of the staff that promote environmental activities and encourage the employees to "think green”. An example of a German factory: The GT tried to reduce domestic waste by changing all papers cups into plastic reusable ones. The cups are on the picture below.
Green product and stores
Adidas has a special lightning concept because 30 to 50% of the energy consumption is coming from lightning the stores. Engineers tried to use sustainable materials for their concept stores and they try to encourage staff to reduce less waste and energy. Their product itself is made to be very sustainable as well. They only use (raw) materials that last for a lifetime and are environmentally friendly.
Conclusion
After I did some research about why they have given Adidas a high ranking on the list, I found out Adidas deserves to be there. The information on their website is quite monotonous and sometimes a little boring to read but you can definitely say they are doing all the possible to preserve nature.
