- Do not use that much paper. It is one of the most difficult things to recycle and yet we use it so often. A good tip is to go digital. Laptops are omnipresent. To waste less paper we can take notes on our laptops and hand in large papers using the Internet, Chamilo or USB sticks. When you do use paper, make sure you use both sides of it. You can store your records in a Cloud or use an external hard drive.
- Plug out your electronic devices when you go to bed or are not around. A great tip is to plug them in in one power strip so you can just shut down the power strip. When you leave your device on stand by, they use a small amount of electricity.
- Things to consider in your household: don’t rinse dishes before you put them in the dish washer, don’t pre-heat the oven, change your light bulbs into energy-saving onces, go vegetarian once a day, hang dry your clothes when it’s hot outside…
- Recycle your waste! It’s important to devide your garbage.
- Freecycle is pretty hot these days. If you need something new you can always look on Freecycle sites first. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. When you have to get rid of something: don’t hesitate to put in on Freecycle as well. You’ll have some free space, you do’nt have to worry about garbage trucks/companies and your karma is going up.
- Stay tuned! You can always educate yourself to know more about being green. Once you are an expert, you can gain the respect of others and persuade them to become green as well.
